O Mediterrâneo do Oriente ao Ocidente: as mobilidades de códices e a recepção do pensamento monástico na compilação hagiográfica de Valério do Bierzo (século VII)

Authors

Abstract

The theme of mobility reveals the entire dynamics of the historical process. Our study focuses on the analysis of sociocultural and political movements in the Mediterranean during the late antique period, with an emphasis on the interactions of monastic manuscripts that travelled between the eastern and western Mediterranean. These flows reveal the dimension of thought, as well as action, regarding the forms of monastic life that gained space in hagiographic accounts. We will highlight the hagiographic collection made by Valerius of Bierzo (625? /695), observing which writings were included in it and which monastic models he defended.
